Tent Rocks National Monument, New Mexico
Adjacent to Cochiti Pueblo south of Santa Fe, New Mexico lies hundreds of square miles of 1000 foot thick volcanic ash deposits laid down by eruptions Jemez (Valles) Caldera some seven million years ago. Eons of erosion has created the unique ashen hoodoo's that are Tent Rocks National Monument. A three-mile round trip trail leads upwards through slot canyon and around the Tents to a peak above the formations.
