The Blinding Yellow of the Mustard Bloom - and much of the wonder found in the Napa and Alexander Valleys, California - March 2010..

Contri Date: September 25, 2010 - "Tree Lined Lane" We will venture further into the valley for a few posts now. An afternoon drive found Red and I in Oakville, Napa. I was pulling over every few minutes to work another view.. this tree lined driveway struck me with symmetry, order, color, light and shadow. The mustard bloom added the finishing touch. Contri Date: September 30, 2010 - "Red Barn" This will be my last recollection of Spring in the Napa Valley as a daily post. We had been up and down the valley this Monday, and just before dinner we drove up for a stroll in downtown Calistoga. We decided to drive back south on the valley's eastern side El Camino Real.. toward St. Helena to find a place for dinner. This vineyard, vines supported by raised trellis, well pruned and just at bud break was a favorite among our discoveries that evening. The symmetry, color and order of the scene was striking! Friday - 4-30-10 -- Okay, this is an escape for me.. Mid morning, sitting on the veranda of a well known establishment in the Napa Valley, Sandi & I were enjoying the tasting of a really top notch Pinot Noir. I was admiring the "legs" left on the glass as I moved the wine around. The sun was brilliantly casting a prizim-like projection through the glass to the white paper laying on the table. The abstract color and shape of that image - combined with the wonderful flavors of the grape, struck all my senses at once. Here is what the 7D captured..

Tuesday 4-27-10 - "Patience" - This Doberman never budged when we approached and walked behind him. As I captured several images, his patience was simply amazing - staring intently through the windows of this Gelato shop seeking a glimpse of his master. Hope he got a taste in reward for such perseverance! ......Downtown stroll, St. Helena.
