Contri Date 6-26-2011: Returning again to our most productive trip this year... Daybreak at Cedar Key - This area of Florida is geographically facing almost due south on the Gulf of Mexico and is referred to as the 'Big Bend.' Up before dawn to capture the beginning of day, toward the southeast we bear witness to the wonder of sunrise finding tiny paths through the clouds over the mainland - much to distant from here to be visible on the horizon.
From our archives - March, 2011 - Thanks, HBLooking somewhat like a two headed waterfowl, this Great White Heron launched into flight just as a White Ibis flies by - The result was quite a wonderful surprise when I went back to edit.

Thanks, HBContri Date: April 6, 2011 - Simplicity - Cedar Key
A return to posting from our Cedar Key trip in late March. Not a lot of color here.. just a good example of how this place is on a different wavelength, a slower pace - life is just a bit more simple here, and that was refreshing.
Thanks for all the comments on this series.

The small beach nearby our room was serving as a runway for a few hundred Black Skimmers. Always facing the bay breeze, talking among themselves, and sounding a loud alarm all together if spooked to flight, they entertained me (or I them) for about a half hour. I shot about 300 images while standing within 30 feet of the 'Squadron' switching between the 70-200mm EF 2.8L IS II and the Sigma 10-20mm. This was so much fun! Thanks to all for the comments on our Cedar Key series! HB

Thanks, HBContri Date: March 29, 2011 - Continuing our Cedar Key, Florida visit from last week - our digs for the visit were at the Harbour Master. It's the farthest to the right and just like the pubs and restaurants along Dock Street, it sits atop pilings on the water. Just at dusk this is the view toward the east from the newly completed City Pier at the south west corner. Thanks for the comments on "Flight" from Sunday's posting. Seldom, if ever are we fortunate enough to stay on the Daily's home page all day! Thanks, HB
